Acne Scars

Skin freckles, also known as brown spots or hyper pigmentation, are caused by sun exposure, ageing, stress, hormonal imbalance and the use of certain contraceptives. Freckles happen when the skin produces excessive amounts of melanin, a natural darkening substance, to protect the skin from solar damage.

Stretch Marks

Ranging from fine lines to thick waves, stretch marks are often caused by extreme weight fluctuation, rapid muscle building and pregnancy.

When the skin is stretched too quickly, some of its collagen fibers can break, causing underlying blood vessels to show through, leaving behind red or purplish marks resembling spider webs or tree branches.

Over time, they fade to pale white or silvery colour, but they do not usually go away fully.

Plastic Surgery Thailand and Malaysia – Which is the Better Destination?

      By 2022 June, News

Are you thinking about getting some work done? Plastic surgery offers you an avenue of self-improvement for your body under professional care. Plastic surgery procedures like breast augmentations and rhinoplasty are pricey investments in your new you.

You can expect to drop thousands of dollars on a single procedure. The cost of the surgery depends on several factors. These factors include the reputation of the doctor and their clinic, as well as the destination country of your surgery.

Many people are looking outside of the United States and the UK for other countries offering affordable plastic surgery rates while maintaining world-class standards of care and outstanding results. Medical tourism involving plastic surgery procedures is a thriving market.

Thailand and Malaysia are two of the leading international destinations for plastic surgery for westerners. Which one of them offers you the best experience and results while being kind on your budget?

This post unpacks everything you need to know about choosing Thailand or Malaysia for your plastic surgery procedure.

      What Is Medical Tourism?

The fact is that medical care is expensive in the United States. The US spends the highest amount on its healthcare of any developed nation. The costs of medication and hospital care continue to skyrocket, including the cost of plastic surgery procedures.

Cosmetic surgery isn’t available through your medical insurance, and you’ll end up paying for your procedure out of your pocket. So, it would be best if you had a balance of the best clinic and doctor you can find, along with a reasonable price.

That’s just not going to happen in the US. So, medical tourism is the practice of visiting international destinations outside of the US for medical care. The reality is, there are plenty of capable, talented, experienced, and renowned plastic surgeons in countries around the world.

However, the difference is that the price is way less than what you’ll pay for the procedure at home. So, medical tourism is popular with individuals seeking expensive operations unavailable in their home country.

Thailand and Malaysia offer you two premium international destinations for your plastic surgery requirements.

Why Choose Malaysia and Thailand for Your Plastic Surgery Destination?

With the borderless expansion of cosmetic surgery throughout the globe, South Korea became one of the most sought-after destinations for medical tourism. However, as years went by, many British tourists started looking into surgery options in southeast Asian locations like Thailand and Malaysia.

The region is popular with British, Australian, and American medical tourism, providing world-class facilities and some of the most talented cosmetic surgeons in the world. Thailand and Malaysia offer you the right balance between quality results and price.

      World-Class Medical Facilities and Expertise

Thailand and Malaysia invested heavily in infrastructure to support medical tourism over the last decade. Cosmetic surgery is one of the fastest-growing industries in the southeast, with highly educated, expertly-trained, and experienced plastic surgeons available throughout a network of world-class private clinics.

Malaysia has at least 60 top-shelf private clinics, and Thailand offers more than 280-centers across the main cities in the country. You get the best medical professionals and teams and the latest medical technology for your procedure.

      Government Regulation and Industry Support

Both Thailand and Malaysia are members of the “Asia Medical Travel Council” (AMTRAC). This organization collaborates with Asian medical ventures associations promoting medical tourism in the countries.

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), founded by the Malaysia Ministry of Health, assists with developing a medical tourism strategy for the country.

The MHTC serves as an integrated source for obtaining information about procedures and treatment. It promotes and coordinates strategies and activities for the country’s healthcare providers.

      Certified Quality

Thai and Malaysian hospitals and private plastic surgery clinics have accreditation through the Joint Commission International (JCI). This international body reviews and accredits every American hospital in the country, and they apply the same procedures and standards to Malaysian and Thai hospitals as well.

This accreditation process has the most extensive list of qualifying criteria for members, with over 350 points of consideration before certifying the hospital or clinic. Malaysian hospitals also have JCI-accreditation.

However, they also comply with the Healthcare Standards set by the Australian Council and local Malaysian Society for Quality. As a result, medical tourists to Thailand and Malaysia experience the same level of care as they would from the best clinics in the United States.

The surgeons based in Thailand and Malaysia are members of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). These stringent regulations on the industry give medical tourists the confidence they need to book their appointment with a clinic in Thailand or Malaysia.

Which Offers You the Most Affordable Plastic Surgery Destination – Thailand or Malaysia?

Several factors go into the cost of the procedure. The quality of your implants, skill, the reputation of the surgeon and clinic, and the nature of the surgery all play a role in its cost. Both Thailand and Malaysia offer you a much more affordable plastic surgery experience than the US or UK.

On average, you’ll pay between $2,685 to $4,200 for breast augmentation in Thailand or Malaysia. Compare that to the $10,000 to $15,000 in the Us (or more), and you can see why medical tourism is so popular for westerners.

While Thailand and Malaysia are similar in the quality of care and the cost of procedures, Malaysia is the more experienced nation in medical tourism. The country is the first between the two to receive innovations in the plastic surgery space, and they have a deeper talent pool of surgeons in the country.

Plastic Surgery Thailand – What are the Pros?

      • You get world-class surgeons and facilities.
      • More affordable than procedures with US doctors and clinics.
      • Enjoy a vacation in an exotic destination.
      • Get the results you want and lasting results.

Plastic Surgery Malaysia – What are the Pros?

      • More innovation than Thailand.
      • A deeper talent pool of high-level doctors ad surgeons.
      • More English-speaking than Thailand.
      • Home to multi-award-winning Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre.

The Verdict – Make Malaysia Your Plastic Surgery Destination

We recommend getting your plastic surgery in Malaysia. The International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) awarded Malaysia “Health and Medical Tourism: Destination of the Year” 2015 and 2016. The IMTJ summed Malaysia’s medical tourism as “accessibility, affordability, and quality.”

The Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre is one of the country’s leading private clinics.

The organization received the “International Cosmetic Surgery Clinic of the Year” 2015 and 2016. This award-winning medical center specializes in world-renowned doctors and aftercare and a range of cosmetic procedures.

Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre received numerous local awards, including the BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands in Health & Beauty – Specialist Medical Centre category in 2013 and 2014.

Reach out to the Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre and inquire about an appointment to discuss your cosmetic surgery requirements.

PRP is a small volume of plasma containing large numbers of platelets. The platelet contents are 4 – 5 times higher than normal blood, making it highly effective for skin rejuvenation.

Also known as Vampire Lift, this treatment utilizes patient’s own plasma to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun-damaged and dull skin. Visible results can be seen within 2 weeks of treatment and improvement will be continuous in the following months.

      Excessive Sweating

Offensive odour isn’t life threatening, but it can threaten your quality of life.

Are you oozing buckets of sweat when others around you seem cool as a breeze? You’re not alone. If you’ve ever suffered an embarrassing hug, an awkward high-five, or a “wet” job interview, freedom from excessive sweat means a lot to you.

Excessive sweating is a real medical condition called hyperhidrosis, but you don’t have to let it control your life. Get help, don’t suffer in silence.

Injection treatment into the affected area where it effectively blocks the nerves that stimulate sweating.

      Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Sun damage, gravity, environmental exposures… to varying degrees, we’re all marked by time.

Before full-blown wrinkles come fine lines, it is a normal process and differences exist based on genetics, gender, “wear and tear”, and upkeep.

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to iron them out before they develop into deeper lines and wrinkles. With science-backed treatments, the ability to delay facial aging is the here-and-now.

Internationally recognised for revolutionising the world of aesthetics, Botulinum Toxin is used to relax the muscles around targeted areas of the face and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck and around the eyes.

      3

      Non Surgical V-shape Face

The term “V-shaped face” was coveted by Korean celebrities and today, almost every Asian woman.

However, the thought of shaving your jaw can be intimidating, frightening, or both: compression bandage around your face, liquid diet, swelling, drooling, and pain.

Hence non-surgical face contouring, or commonly called non-surgical V-shaped face: a popular treatment option to achieve positive, life-changing results without the need of breaking the bank or causing setbacks in your daily work.

Injection of botulinum toxin (often marketed under the brand name Botox) can relax the jaw muscles and lift your face, while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

              Laser Treatments

              By Aesthetic Medicine, Laser Treatments

              Laser Treatments & Phototherapy

What are Laser Treatments & Phototherapy?

Laser is an acronym for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation” they work by emitting a wavelength of high energy light, which when focused on certain skin conditions (e.g sun spots) will create heat and treat the problem via destruction (e.g. removing the sun spots). There are many different wavelengths (or colours) of lasers because each wavelength treats different things. For the purpose of this exercise we shall split the lasers into 4 categories: ablative laser, non-ablative lasers, fractional lasers and non-lasers.

The laser cost starts from RM 500.

              Recommended For

              • Birth marks
              • Pigmentation
              • Age spots
              • Dull skin
              • Tattoo removal

              Type of Lasers

              1

              Ablative Lasers

Focus on the outer layer of the skin by creating micro wounds on the surface.

              Non-Ablative Lasers

Pass safely through the outer layer of the skin by penetrating the tissue lying beneath. They can treat skin issues without damaging the surface of your skin, non-ablative lasers are considered an improvement as they require less recovery time.

              2

              3

              Fractional Lasers

Fractional laser beams are split into hundreds of tiny beams (a bunch of dots) instead of a solid beam. When fractional laser penetrates the skin, it penetrates in a scattered way, treating some skin while leaving skin in between alone. The spread-out dosage means that you receive the same benefits minus the downtime. Fractional lasers can be either ablative or non-ablative.

              Non-Lasers

Pretty much everything else, devices such as Radiofrequency (RF), Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Infrared, and Ultrasound fall into this category.

              4

              BWMC's Laser Treatments & Phototherapy

Pico laser got its name from the SI unit measurement, pico. The pico unit is rather unheard of as it is really so minute, unlike the mili, micro and nano units which are much more common. To give you an idea of how really tiny the unit measurement is, a picosecond is one trillionth the speed of a second! This definitely gives you an idea of how fast the laser is. Pico lasers deliver laser shots (“pulses”) that are short, fast and high-powered. When the pulses are short and fast, more laser shots can be delivered to the treatment area and hence, the skin problem can be resolved quicker.

A carbon dioxide laser is very strong and can cut into or vaporize skin tissue. A continuous wave of carbon dioxide laser is not as favourable anymore to treat facial skin conditions because of the long downtime. Instead of CO2 Laser used on skin today are fractional carbon dioxide lasers. CO2 lasers are mostly used for removing moles nowadays.

                  Thread Lift

                  What is Thread Lift?

                  Fill 1102Created with Sketch.

A thread lift is considered a minimally-invasive treatment, it does not involve cutting or stitching, however, it does involve injecting the thread underneath your skin to “lift” it up, creating the effect of pulling the skin back slightly and therefore tightening the face.

In addition to lifting sagging skin, threads help to combat aging by stimulating large surges of collagen to the treated areas. Collagen acts as growth factor that greatly influences the condition of our skin. In addition to being used for wound healing, collagen helps to keep our skin strong, voluminous and supple. As we get older, our bodies gradually produce less collagen, the loss of volume and strength will cause skin laxity and wrinkle. Besides, gravity will pull the skin downwards, resulting in a haggard look. Introducing fresh collagen to the skin while the signs of laxity are still mild can help to reduce looseness and prevent it from getting worse.

Patients who have undergone thread lift will notice a gradual improvement in their skin tone and firmness. While the threads are in place, the body’s collagen production will be constantly active because the body will try to “heal” the sutured areas. The body is biologically conditioned to react this way when it senses any foreign object present within the dermis (skin). Fortunately for the patient, the threads placed under the skin are so thin that they will not be able to feel the sutures.

The cost of thread lift STARTS FROM 3800.

                  Types of Thread Lift

There are a few types of thread lifts, the main difference is longevity, stiffness and tensile strength:

                  • PDO (Polydioxanone) dissolves after 6 – 9 months
                  • PLLA (Poly L Lactic Acid) dissolves after 12 – 18 months
                  • PCL (Polycaprolactone) dissolves after 24 – 36 months

                  Considerations

Although thread lifts are advantageous, patients must maintain a realistic expectation for this procedure. While thread lifts can certainly produce visible changes, they will only be able to lift the face by a few millimeters, as such they create a more subtle and natural look than facelift surgery. Thread lifts are more suitable for mild to moderate cases of skin laxity. Once thread lifts are no longer feasible, patients may have to consider facelift surgery.

The patient needs to understand that no lifting technique is permanent, that being said a facelift surgery will produce longer-lasting results than a thread lift. Facelift surgery can last up to a decade whereas a thread lift generally lasts between one to three years.

                  Maintenance

To get the most out of the treatment, patients can combine thread lift with Exilis, Thermage or Ultherapy. These lasers use heat to stimulate collagen production. By combining these procedures with thread lift you can maximize the overall effect of skin firming and create even more lifting to the neck as well as the face.

While thread lifts can tighten skin, they aren’t designed to address the blemishes of the skin’s surface. As such signs of aging such as age spots, areas of uneven pigmentation and fine lines will require a different technique known as skin resurfacing. During skin resurfacing the top layer of the dermis is removed, stripping away the blemishes. A new more youthful-looking layer of the skin then grows in its place. You can do this through other lasers or fillers. It would be best to consult with the doctor on what works best for your condition.

                  Frequently Asked Questions

Thread lifts are ideal for those in their late 30s to 50s, those who are older will benefit more from facelift surgery. Additionally, those who have medical conditions and are unable to have surgery will find thread lifts are a great alternative.

Patients can drive themselves home immediately after the procedure (unlike in facelift surgery which requires some assistance, as they may be under general anaesthesia). Great for those who have children at home or those who have busy and demanding careers as it is not a time-consuming procedure and doesn’t have a long recovery time.

Most patients can return to their normal routine after the procedure, while some may experience soreness, redness or swelling, it generally takes a day for it to calm down.

There’s no need to take strong pain medication.

For those who are looking for an affordable option, thread lifts are ideal as they are easier to perform, they are much more affordable than say a facelift surgery. The process of thread lift can also be reversed should there be complications.

Firstly, a numbing cream will be applied to the area that is meant to be treated. It takes up to 20 – 30 minutes for the numbing cream to take effect. The doctor will then mark out the positions of the threads to achieve the best possible results.

The doctor will begin by inserting a thick hollow needle into the facial skin, targeting under the fat layer. One end of the thread is carefully tied to firmer underlying internal structures while the other end goes underneath the skin.

As the surgeon withdraws the needle, the filaments on the sutures are deposited into the sagging parts of the face. The doctor then tugs on the threads to elevate droopy skin and sets it to a more youthful-looking position. The procedure is relatively simple and can be done in just an hour or less.

After the treatment, you should minimize the movement of your face for at least a day. You will need to make sure not to rub your face vigorously while cleansing it or applying moisturizer for at least a week after having threads placed. You should also prop your head up slightly so that you don’t roll over directly onto your face while sleeping. You will also need to avoid smoking and drinking for at least 24 hours.

Thread lifts are considered a low-risk procedure thanks to how non-invasive they are. There is virtually no risk of scarring, severe bruising, bleeding or other complications after having a thread lift.

In very rare cases, patients may experience irritation, infection or their sutures becoming visible under their skin. If this occurs, however, the sutures can be removed and the patients face will return to its prior state.
